Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

The third chapter is called The Caucus Race and Long Tale. As the mouse and Alice are swimming to shore they run into a Duck, a Dodo, a Lory, and a Eaglet. Alice is focused on getting dry once on the bank. The Lory and Alice start to fight, but the mouse stops and forces everyone to sit down and listen to the history lesson. He starts to talk about William the Conqueror and that would be the best story in a while. After the lesson is over, everyone is still wet. The Dodo suggests that everyone runs in a caucus race. The Dodo marks out the trail and then after a long time they declare the race over, they have all won the race and that Alice has to confer prizes. She hands them all mints and she leaves her self without a prize. That chapter was the most boring chapter because it was all about the race and that wasn't really a race just one to have. My connection with this chapter was one time my dad ran the Shamrock Shuffle it was a 5K run and he didn't come in first or even the top ten, so he got no prize but in the end he finished and he didn't need a prize cause finishing the race was good enough. i picked that connection because it shows that you don't need a prize to show that you finish the race but the fact that you actually finished the race is all that matters.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

The second chapter is called Pool of Tears, before we ended saying that Alice ate the cake, that cake made her grow nine feet tall. Alice was so tall that she couldn't fit an eye down to the door she started to cry, she cried so much that a pool was at the bottom of her feet. The rabbit came in talked to his self and as Alice tried to talk to him he scuttles away. when he leaves he drops a fan, she then starts to fan herself. Alice then thinks to her self that maybe she isn't Alice anymore and she is now Mabel a girl she knows. Mabel isn't as smart and gets very confused easily and that is how Alice felt. She is so confused about who she is that she says there is no point to get back to normal size and it will be just better to stay here and not rejoin society. as she is babbling about how she isn't Alice anymore, she realizes that the fanning is shrinking her down to her size where she can fit through the door. Alice falls down to the right size, she forgot the key again but before she can get upset she slips and falls in salt water and thinks she is swimming in the ocean but she is really swimming in her own giant tears. Alice finds a mouse to try and talk to but the mouse cant understand her, she trys French but as she is talking she mentions the word cat and the mouse jumps. Alice says sorry and trys again but then Alice mentions dogs which scares the mouse even more so he starts to swim away. Alice promises she wont talk about cats or dogs again if the mouse will come back. the mouse comes back and says swim to the shore and he will talk to her. They swam to shore together and the mouse talks about his hate towards cats and dogs. i connect this chapter with everyday life. i picked that to connect to because there are days when people just want to sit down and cry their day has been longer, hard, and just people being rude. Alice in this chapter kept forgetting that key she needed to get into the door and she just couldn't take it and started to cry.
